Trophy Cabinet

I created a trophy cabinet to hold three large trophies and six small ones, or medals. It’s made from aerated concrete blocks, which I shaped using a pneumatic chisel. I then painted it with an airbrush and coated it in resin. Because of the stone’s porous nature the resin gets in the little holes and the surface becomes really hard once the resin sets.

I like how it imitates real stone, the kind people used to build with before factories existed. I’m hammering away at a perfectly square block just to make it look like some kind of alien rock no human has ever seen before. I probably could have just picked up a few rocks in nature instead and did something with them. I often feel pressure to reconstruct what already exists. Anyway, I think it looks cool.
