Printed vase
These vases are 3D-printed in clay. The original model was sculpted on an iPad. At first, the technique looked interesting, but it turned out to be very difficult and a bit annoying. There are so many variables: air pressure, how wet the clay is, nozzle size... It’s not as fun as it looks.
The shape is more organic than most 3D-printed ceramics. I felt like people were approaching the technique in the same way over and over, so I wanted to try something different. I don’t make these anymore, it’s too hard and takes too much time.
Big thank you to my girlfriend for coming with me to watch clay get extruded for hours. She told me the sound still triggers her.
